NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD

Roger preached yesterday on 3 John. He made a comment that I think was profound and needed to be heard. “The church needs to do the work of the church. The church doesn't need the world to do the work of the church.” Roger used an example of a lottery winner who might want to donate money to the church. He said "Let them keep their money. The church needs to do the work of the church.” Now do I think this means we build a commune and live in it-NO. We are in the world. We are to minister in the world. An example of what I'm saying is, say a Christian is an actor. Is it possible? I'm not talking about being an employee of TBN. I mean being an actor in Hollywood. Could you be a fruitful Christian and be an actor? Could you be a country singer, who is a Christian but sings country songs, not songs that are on 106.9? I think it is possible, and in fact a huge witness to minister in this way. But, the problem, just like the lottery, would be the temptation to sell out. To turn your back on Jesus, to further yourself. Thinking "Well, I'm not really turning my back, I'm just doing what I have to do.” It would be extremely tough in a situation like that. I pray God will keep me from anything like that, so that I won’t even be tempted. But, I do think you can be a Christian and be more than a legalist thinking individual might say is ok. And in fact I think this may be the reason so many people are miserable. God’s telling them to do something radical and “church folk” tell them they shouldn’t do it. Which leads me to the next part of the passage that spoke to me on a personal level yesterday. 3 John As if that weren't bad enough, he not only refuses hospitality to traveling Christians but tries to stop others from welcoming them. Worse yet, instead of inviting them in he throws them out. People who refuse to be radical for Christ will not only not do it for themselves, they will have the audacity to tell you that you shouldn’t do it!!! How dare they! But, if you’re like me, you’re easily shaken and convinced they are right. We must be bold in our convictions. Being bold in my conviction leads me to our guest speaker last night. I so understood and appreciated his message. He wanted to do something new, radical, and most importantly inspired by God. He had everything stacked against him. Money, time, counsel and many other things that said, “There’s just no way. Don’t do it.” But he knew. So he said “God I’ll do my part, and God you do Your part.” That’s what they did. God shined in a way that everyone knew it was Him performing the miracles and getting the glory. I hope he knew how much he impacted us, at least me by his story of saying “Here I am God, send me!” He began last night by quoting scriptures on miracles. He quoted Philippians 4:13I can do everything through him who gives me strength. He said, but do we really believe it? I believe the answer for most is “No.” But I was inspired by his message and realized (again) I’ve pushed the dreams God placed in my heart down so far that I’d hoped I’d forget they were there, or they’d go away. God loves me to much for that. So, that empty hole of an unfulfilled desire will remain until I’m back in pursuit of His greatness. I want to be. I can be. Do you?????Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked hard at them and said, "No chance at all if you think you can pull it off yourself. Every chance in the world if you trust God to do it."
