I must give credit where credit is due. I am officially crowning myself the queen of not being able to handle crisis. But at least it provides for humor in the memories of my mind.
When Meagan was 1, I planned an elaborate party I couldn't afford with about 10,000 balloons. OK, not quite that many, but close There were tons of people there and I was going to make this THE 1 year birthday party of 1990. It would leave people talking. It would make Martha Stewart call me and ask me to come and work for her. This was going to make up for the fact I wasn't going to college because I would be ushered into the business of party planning and catering. Five minutes into the party, Meagan who was setting in Nanny Vickie's lap and yanked a balloon. The balloon was rapped around a light fixture which fell on Meagan's head. I picked her up and went in the bathroom and locked the door. Meagan's head was bleeding and she was screaming. People came to the door, "Gina, is she ok?" "We're fine. Go away!" Well she wasn't ok. In fact (after I was convinced to unlcock the door) she required stitches by a plastic surgeon. I cried more than she did.
You see I couldn't believe what was happening and had decided I'd just refuse to deal with it and it would go away. I just thought "Why now? Why after the party has started? Why not tomorrow or yesterday?" It felt like the worst timing possible.
Do you find yourself there today? Why now? Why this? Terrible timing. Unbelievable in the scheme of your life.
So many people (me being one) refuse to deal with issues that are literally as obvious as the hole in Meagan's head that I acted like I couldn't see. If I had refused to get her medical treatment, she'd be scarred today. I almost allowed the thoughts of my baby getting a shot and stitches to override the more serious and long term issues at stake.
Some of us sweep so much under our rug of hiding-that our rug is as high as the ceiling! There's a problem with that my friend.
The world tells us the lie that we need to clean ourselves up to be acceptable to Jesus. That is not true. Jesus knows your secrets and he wants you to let Him clean up your life. There's not another way.
I spoke yesterday during our Bible devotion about what I consider the greats in the Bible. (Other than Jesus) Abraham, Moses, Jacob, David, Paul. These men committed sin. I mean the kind of sin that in the Christian world today might cause them to be rejected for service. But I am seeing their story for what it is. Men who at different points in their walks messed up. Repented. Moved on.
If you decide today to let God help you deal with your mounding rug of secrets. Praise God! He is faithful. When others fail you, he does not.

Lord, when the Israelites heard Your voice out of the darkness, while the mountain was ablaze with fire, all the leading men of their tribes and their elders came forward (Deut. 5:23)Please help me to hear Your voice out of my darkness and come to You, Lord.
God's Light Will Always Lead Us Right Back To The Path. No Matter How Long The Detour Has Been, Return Is Only A Shortcut Away.
Praying for You
